Hi there – my name is Katie and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker! I have certifications as a Clinical Trauma Professional and a Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional.
I specialize in working with teens who feel overwhelmed with anxiety and self-criticism and young adults who struggle with self-harm and disordered eating. I am a good fit for families who understand that therapy is often a long-term commitment.
I’ve been working in mental health for nine years and have been in a variety of roles before earning my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree in 2018 and becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in 2022.
I have worked in outpatient, inpatient, and residential settings and I have witnessed the overwhelming importance of human connection. Because of this, I value building safe, supportive, and genuine therapeutic relationships by utilizing a trauma-informed approach. I strive to be consistent, honest, and accepting in order to build a comfortable therapeutic space for clients to be vulnerable with their thoughts and feelings. Additionally, I like to hold space for clients who have had negative interactions with mental health professionals in the past.
I specialize in working with teens who feel overwhelmed with anxiety and self-criticism and are struggling with a draining desire to be perfect. I am a good fit for families who understand that therapy is often a long-term commitment.
My therapy style is also a good fit for middle and high school kids navigating life transitions and developing their unique identity. This developmental period may look like kids experiencing intense emotions, pushing boundaries, talking back, and engaging in new (and sometimes risky) behaviors. I have significant experience working with kids navigating a variety of life transitions. These clients respond well to my genuine and empathetic style because my consistent and direct approach builds trust and safety, which is essential for a meaningful therapy experience.
What does this all mean? I want therapy to be a safe and comfortable space for you. It can be hard to trust someone and I hope we can build that trust together. In session, I use therapeutic interventions that will best support you. You’ll mostly find me practicing from a Strength-Based and Humanistic perspective while using Person-Centered techniques and sprinkling in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy here and there. I’ve found that my therapy style works best with teens and young adults.
Compensation
I accept Aetna and UHC insurance, self-pay and can provide superbills.
