Pronouns: He/Him/They/Them

Hi, I'm KW

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who has 12 years of experience supporting teens and adults in the mental health world.  My approach to therapy is both humanistic and existential - I want to know who you are as a person, not just about the problems that have led you to seek support. What are you passionate about? What creates a sense of awe for you?  What have you encountered in your life that has helped you to feel understood?

Maybe it is difficult for you to answer these questions - that is valid and I would love to support you in exploring who you are, what you love, and how you can feel more like yourself in your day-to-day life.  Some things to know about me as a therapist/human:

- I am a big believer of “practice what you preach” and try to structure my life in a way that allows me to take my own advice. This also means that I see my own therapist each week.

- I am late-discovered AuDHD and understanding this about myself has better equipped me to work with others who have navigated a life filled with incorrect labels and stories about themselves. Through that understanding I can support you in looking with new eyes and rewriting these narratives in a way that are

neuro-affirming and honoring of your truth.

- I bring lived experience in being a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and as a person who manages living with chronic illness.

- Mindfulness is a foundational element in my work with clients - I believe that mindfulness is not a single activity but rather a way of being and doing that requires playful exploration and practice.

- I believe that sometimes the best way to communicate your inner experience to others is through metaphor, song lyrics, tv/movie scenes, and memes – I welcome this in therapy and will communicate this way myself at times.

- When I am not in session, I enjoy spending time with my spouse and fur-kids, reading, collecting, engaging in creative outlets (music, painting, photography, and writing), learning about neurodivergent experiences, and getting lost in the woods near moving water.

Compensation

I am currently in network with Medicaid and Medicare. UHC, UMR, Humana, Cigna, Ambetter, Aetna and HSH insurance are currently pending. I also offer self-pay and can provide superbills.
